AEntrepreneurs and established businesses often rely upon a business plan to chart their course. Little time or thought is given to the legal aspects of the business such as structure, agreements, business divorce, or financing. It is the role of the corporate attorney to assist the entrepreneur or business owner in developing a plan that takes into consideration structure, legal risks, compliance, and regulatory issues. This approach reduces down-side risk and increases the odds of business success.
Why do I need a corporate lawyer?
AWhile self-help legal sites offer low cost services you have to ask yourself if the quality of the service is worth the cost. Most of these sites have forms that you may or may not be able to modify. If you knew all of the issues and complexities that impact your situation you could write your own agreements. A good corporate lawyer will listen to you to understand the issues and priorities that should be emphasized, and will craft a legal strategy that will make business execution easier not harder.
Why should I use KPL instead of an online self-help site?
ABig firms are great for big clients. If you are an entrepreneur, start-up or middle market company you will not get the treatment you deserve at a big firm. You will have a trainee assigned to your matter with very little experience, you will pay for multiple lawyers on your matter, and you will pay for the for the overhead of a big firm, including high-rise Class A office rent, staff, and expensive artwork. At KPL you only get experienced attorneys and only pay for multiple attorneys if the transaction is very large, or if it is complicated and several different legal areas are involved.
Why should I use KPL instead of a big firm?
AOur experience and approach are different than that of most law firms. We have experience founding and operating businesses, creating budgets and financial projections, and raising money. We take a broader view of legal issues and welcome working with other legal or non-legal professionals. For more information on what sets us apart see the Why KPL page.
How are you different from other firms?
AWe provide general corporate transactional services. This includes business, corporate, mergers & acquisitions, and securities law. We work with start-ups to established middle market companies. A more detailed list of services can be found on the Practices page.
What kinds of legal services do you provide?
AWe work with experienced top-notch attorneys and advisors in other areas, including tax, intellectual property, employment, and business litigation. We bring on these unaffiliated attorneys, as needed, to create a virtual big law firm (without the overhead) to handle your matter quickly and efficiently.
What if I need other legal services?
AWe use a variety of billing arrangements, depending on the matter, from hourly and flat-fee billing to retainer/monthly billing.
How do you charge for services?
ACall us at (424) 258-0643 to set-up a free telephone appointment to discuss your matter. If we agree to represent you, we will send you a retainer agreement to sign and ask for a security deposit before we begin work.
